According to Coindesk, Genesis Cat, a digital art image made by the Taproot Wizards team on the Bitcoin Ordinals protocol, sold for $254,000 at a Sotheby’s auction. The painting is a special edition 1-of-1 work by Taproot Wizards artist Francisco “FAR” Alarcon and is part of an ordinal inscription at Sotheby’s auction. The auction began on January 12 and ended on Monday. The “Genesis Cat” sold for more than 12 times its estimate of $15,000 to $20,000.
