Survey: Metaverse Patent Status and Development

According to the Metaverse Patent Rankings compiled by Tokyo-based research firm Cyber Creative Institute, LG has filed the most metaverse patent applications since 2016, ranking climbed from №11 in 2010–2015 to №1. Samsung Electronics is in second place. Huawei did not make the top 20 in previous surveys, but now ranks fourth with a large number of patents related to image and display processing. Meta ranked third, Microsoft fifth, and Intel & Apple were among the six U.S. companies in the top 10. Sony is the only Japanese company to make it into the top 10, ranking sixth. Combined, the top 20 companies filed a total of 7,760 metaverse patents, with the United States accounting for 57%, followed by South Korea with 19% and China with 12%. Japanese companies accounted for 8%. (PANews report)

South Korea’s Sejong Academy Foundation recently said that its “Metaverse Sejong Academy Campus” (ksif.zep.site) is about to launch, which will further facilitate foreigners to communicate and study with Korean in virtual space. (Golden Financial report)
